Published on November 18, 2013 by Scott Parker

It’s my opinion that Christmas does not officially arrive at Walt Disney World until Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa debuts it’s massive Victorian Gingerbread House.  Well, Christmas has officially arrived.  Disney’s 2013 Gingerbread House display officially opened on Saturday, November 16th and the display will be open daily from 10am-10pm.

It does not matter how many times I see this display, I’m always in total amazement.  This years Gingerbread House I snot only home to many hidden Mickey’s, but you will also find Stitch, Remi, Donald Duck, Pluto, Pooh and Friends and Mickey Mouse wreaths.  There are nutcrackers, gifts with name tags, candy canes, poinsettias and my absolute favorite, a working chimney!

If you think you may want to tackle this project and make your own Disney Gingerbread House at home, you may need this bit of information.  Disney used the following to make the 20013 Gingerbread House.

1,050 lbs. of Honey 800 lbs. of Flour 600 lbs. of Chocolate 600 lbs. of Powdered Sugar 140 pints of Egg Whites 35 lbs. of Spices Oh and you can’t forget the ton of Disney creativity, Disney Magic and Pixie Dust!

It took the Grand Floridian bakery team more than two months and 840 hours of labor to produce, cut, and bake the 5,089 Gingerbread shingles used to decorate this years Gingerbread House.

Here is a time lapse video provided by Disney Parks showing the creation of the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa Gingerbread House
