Cabana Bay Beach Resort at Universal Orlando

Take a step back in time as you walk into this retro 50’s and 60’s style themed resort. Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the newest resort at Universal in Orlando. We had the pleasure of touring this hotel during our recent training. I was most excited to see this as I had toured the other Universal onsite hotels, but this was still under construction when I was there last.

You won’t just find a do-wop theme here. Cabana Bay features value priced accommodations with standard rooms for families of 4 or family suites that can sleep up to 6 people. The standard rooms are scheduled to open the end of June. The family suites offer queen beds with a kitchenette area. I especially love how the bathroom is laid out.  The center area has a sink and plenty of counter space with an additional sink in the separate shower side. There is lot’s of space to get ready before you head out.

When we walked into the huge, brightly colored lobby, I started bopping my head to ‘It’s Not Unusual’ by Tom Jones.

You couldn’t help but want to dance a little and I’m sure I probably did. Across from the lobby, you will find the Swizzle Lounge featuring drinks from that era.

Head outside and into the Cabana Courtyard where you will find the 10,000 square foot pool with a zero depth entry and a modest, but fun for all ages, water slide. In keeping with the theme, you can rent cabana’s as well. There will also be a lazy river area on the other side of the resort where the standard rooms will be once completed the end of June.

Another great attraction at Cabana Bay Beach Resort is the 10-lane bowling alley. The Galaxy Bowl is a great place to get out of the sun and still have fun. Or if you feel like keeping up with your workouts, head over to the Jack LaLanne Fitness Studio and try out one of their many state of the art pieces of fitness equipment.

If you need something fast and fabulous to eat. You will enjoy the Bayliner Diner. You have so many options, from hot paninis, salads, burgers, pizza’s and even a signature Swedish meatball dish. There are also lots of grab and go items and you can purchase refillable thermal mugs.

These can be purchased on a day to day basis. But one of my favorite features are the 2 huge TV screens playing commercials from days past.

One more feature that will be completed soon is the walkway to CityWalk where you can decide what park to enter. There will be no guessing on how to get there as this path will lead you to where ever you want to go with bright blue dots. I can’t say, ‘follow the yellow brick road,’ but you get the idea.

With the new addition of Diagon Alley opening up this Summer, you will want to secure a spot at this amazing resort. This is the 4th Universal on-site hotel and will have plenty of transportation available as well, with buses running often in peak season. The only on-site perk not available is the unlimited express pass you can get with staying at Royal Pacific, Portofino Bay, or Hard Rock Hotel.
