Newly renovated Cocoa Beach Pier offers an exciting mix of food and fun at Orlando’s closest beach

Following a multi-million dollar renovation recently launched by Westgate Resorts, the iconic Cocoa Beach Pier has been restored to its historic glory as a premier dining and entertainment destination in Cocoa Beach, Florida, 55 miles east of Orlando.

Stretching 800 feet over the Atlantic Ocean, it is now an ideal location for beachgoers to dip, dine, surf, shop and fish, while also providing one of the best vantage points on Florida’s Space Coast for an unforgettable rocket launch viewing experience.

Guests are greeted at the Pier by a new, 27-foot-tall lighted sign designed to be a signature centerpiece and nostalgic tribute to the landmark’s 53-year history. A colorful wave-patterned floor, more than 1,800 feet of replaced railings and supports, freshly painted exteriors and refurbished storefront awnings also await Pier guests.

New restaurant menus provide an array of enticing options, from favorites to family friendly, amidst fresh new restaurant designs.

The Boardwalk Bar and Restaurant, an outdoor bar located along the Pier’s boardwalk, features new menu items such as fresh lobster rolls and fish tacos, refreshing beverages and oversized water misting fans that complement the ocean’s natural breeze against a backdrop of breathtaking beachside views.

Guests can enjoy Florida sunshine, live entertainment and fresh oysters at the Pier’s open-air seafood bar, Keith’s Oyster Bar, named for Pier owner David Siegel’s late nephew, Keith Siegel. Adjacent to the oyster bar, a 10-foot, 6,000-pound anchor discovered by Keith Siegel at the wreckage of an 18th century whaling ship also stands as a memorial of the renowned local lobsterman.

Additional food and beverage options include: Pelican’s Bar & Grill, an indoor sports bar with floor-to-ceiling views of the ocean and a wide selection of hand-crafted beers; Mai Tiki Bar, an ideal place for happy hour, located at the end of the Pier overlooking the Atlantic Ocean; and Sea Dogs, a quick-service option with soft serve ice cream, turkey legs and Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs.

The whole family can enjoy fishing at the Pier, where catches include grouper, snapper, sea trout and more. Dedicated bait and tackle attendants with more than 60 years of combined fishing knowledge are available to assist guests with rod and bait rentals, offering discounts for regular visitors.

For those who want to surf the Atlantic Ocean waves or relax on the beach, Trader Rick’s Marketplace offers rental items such as surf boards, umbrellas and beach chairs. Beach chair rentals are also available right on the beach, where guests can enjoy a game of beach volleyball, or spend time in the water. Lifeguards also patrol the beach, for the safety of all visitors.

“A large part of my family grew up in the Cocoa Beach area and we have many wonderful memories of the time spent here,” said Siegel. “We are honored to become the custodians of this magnificent landmark and we are fortunate to have the resources necessary to ensure that the legacy of the Pier is protected and renovated in a first-class manner.”

New informational signage highlights the Pier’s history and provides insight into the Siegel family history in Brevard County, which dates back to 1972. Signs also introduce guests to Florida’s Space Coast destination, with features on local landmarks such as the Kennedy Space Center, Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral.

Additional Pier renovations include a redesigned boardwalk souvenir shop and boutique for an open-air shopping experience, completely reconstructed public restrooms, upgraded parking lot lighting fixtures and landscaping to support natural beach habitat.

Wedding packages are available, complete with a licensed officiant, floral arrangements, a cake, beach-themed décor and a customizable reception at one of the Pier’s beachfront restaurants. Brides and grooms can say “I Do” against a picturesque sunset along the beach, or at the end of the Pier, stretching 800 feet over the Atlantic.

Travelers to Orlando shouldn’t pass up a short excursion to Cocoa Beach and enjoy an exciting taste of what’s new at the historic Cocoa Beach Pier. For more information on the Cocoa Beach Pier, visit www.cocoabeachpier.com.
